Isla Starting to Walk

Last Thursday Isla starting taking her first few tentative steps. After curising from couch to chair to wall to whatever-else-she-can-grab for a few weeks, she's finally getting the strength and courage to take a few steps here and there. She's quite excited by it, and seems to be eager to try walking whenever she can. We caught some on video this morning:

I was wondering what she was doing

The other day Lilo was in the bathroom for longer than necessary, which has become the norm lately. This time I came in and saw her trying to write her name in toilet paper.

It just made me laugh and get the camera - she actually took the picture.

She took a few steps

Last night Isla took a few steps. She was walking between Rob and I - it was pretty cute. It's funny just this weekend I was saying that I thought it might be awhile since she has barely been standing on her own. But I guess she's trying to prove me wrong.

And on a more tiring note - I'm still trying to get Isla back on a sleeping schedule. In other words, sleeping all night. Last night was not a good one, up every 3 hours and at 4:30am thinking it was time to be awake. Not fun. Hopefully tonight will be better.

I said 2 inches

Lilo needed a hair cut and I was going to get a good 2 inches taken off so hopefully it wouldn't be so tanglely. Right now she runs away whenever she sees the brush.

I think Lilo was being so squirmy for the hairdresser that she ended up taking off more then I thought - it was about 4" or more.

Oh well it looks cute and Lilo said she likes it and it will be easier to brush. But I must say it's weird to look at since it seems so much shorter.

I didn't mean to be that mom that chops all her girl's hair off since it's too hard to manage :)

Isla playing like a big girl

This past weekend Rob took Lilo to the Raptors game. They both had a lot of fun and Lilo loved the half time show - Mascot basketball. As she said when she got home, "The dinosaur and animals are playing, they're friends."
And while Lilo was out with Daddy, Isla and I got to hang out. It's funny Isla and I don't get a lot of solo time. She was having fun playing with Lilo's baby stroller. I was neat to see Isla play without Lilo coming and stealing it away.

We're home

We had a great visit with my parents in Mesa, Arizona. It was really nice to spend time in the warm weather. We played at the park, swam in the pool, went to the zoo, took a train around a ghost/ mining town, shopped Mesa Market and rode around in my parents golf cart. All in all a fun week.

I'll go into details with the photos a little later.

Here are some funny things Lilo said while on the trip.

- Referring to catcus, "Don't eber eber, you don't eber sit on prickles."
- Lilo was looking out into the desert from on top of a little hill, "Look Mom, the world." With her arms stretched out.
- Sitting in her booster seat, she was told she looked like a queen. Lilo, "No I'm not a queen, I'm just Lilo"
- Isla had a bad night there and she was crying for a long time. I had gone back to bed and hoped she would calm down on her own. Lilo said to me, "Mom, you gotta keep trying."
- While walking through the airport, there was a woman wearing a really tight top, Lilo says, "Mom, look - she has boobs like you." She obviously meant just that I had some too and wasn't referring to their size.

The flight there wasn't too bad. The fasten seat belt sign was on most of the flight so the girls had to sit still, which wasn't easy for Isla. Lilo was fine watching shows and only got antsy a few times.
The trip home on the other hand was horrible. Isla started to get a cold the day before and was miserable on the flight. She threw up just was we were taking off. I had a change of clothes for her but not me. She was crying most of the flight - finally fell asleep and Lilo had to go pee. I shifted Isla in my arms and she threw up again. So I have Lilo whining that she had to pee and Isla crying and me trying to clean up puke.
I went to the bathroom and changed Isla into Lilo's sweatshirt and took my t-shirt off and put on my sweatshirt. The flight attendant was nice to let me borrow a blanket instead of buying one - since I used the one I bought to catch most of the first round with it. Then for about an hour, Isla was crying and squirming to get comfortable. Poor girl, she was so tired but couldn't fall asleep. I had all 3 seats so at least she had some room. Lilo fell asleep and Isla finally did. I had some help getting the girls off the plane since Lilo barely woke up.
It was a long 4 1/2 hours. It was really nice to see Rob waiting for us.

Nice to be away but great to be home again.
