update

I've been slacking on the updates - sorry. Isla in her hiding spot eating a freezy

Isla just had her 15 month appointment - she's a chunk-a-monk just like we thought. 50 percentile for height and 75% for weight, on the same curve she's has been on. She's got the Roth thighs.

She's an active happy little girl. She's been trying to jump which is super cute, but she can't quite get that 2nd foot up. She also loves to dance, she shakes her hips when ever there is music.

She's also trying more and more to talk, she has a few words like, bubble, kitty and shoe, as well as E-O (Lilo) and a few others. She loves to point at things and tells me a story about them.
Her hair is growing nicely and I actually fit it into pigtails the other day and trimmed her bangs this afternoon.

She's also a determined little girl that gets frustrated when she doesn't get what she wants - total meltdown city, cute but annoying.

She just got the hang of going up the stairs and down the slide by herself at the park - very cute to see her up there waving hi. Isla fell asleep on the way home from the park.

Lilo and Isla have the great sister relationship - love and hug each other one minute and push and fight over a toy another. I'm sure I'm in for many more years of this.
Lilo has been riding her trike to the park every time we go.

Lilo is doing well, she's a little sick right now but hopefully she'll get over it fast. I started writing this earlier in the week, she seems to be better now.

Her big thing right now is to wear clothes that match her sister - it doesn't have to be 100% but they both have to be wearing dresses and preferably the same colour or both floral. So I end up looking like that mom who dresses her girls alike. They even have the same sandals.

We have been getting her to practice saying her name properly so when she starts school in the fall she doesn't introduce herself as WeeWoo. She's starting to get it. Also getting her used to her long name which she says mean "I have a lot of friends, since it has the word lotts in it" - Lieselotte.

She's also a joker, a comedian in training. She's starting to tell knock, knock jokes. Many of them don't make any sense, but they are still funny.
knock, knock
who's there?
Banana
Banana who?
And then you eat it

Lilo is taking swim lessons this summer, the teacher says that she's good and comfortable in the water but likes to do her own thing and not a fan of putting her face in the water. I don't blame her, I'm not a fan of that either.

The other week I took the kids to the CBC Kids Summer Spectacular, which was a festival that had a show with some CBC kids characters, including some of Lilo's favorites; Super Why and Bo on the Go. Her favorite to see was actually Canada, yes, they had someone dress up as Canada.

They also had a bunch of other fun stuff for the kids, I'm glad we were there early since it was crazy busy when we left. They had a Today Parent Magazine booth, where they took pictures of your kids for a chance for your kid to win the cover baby, plus you got to keep a copy of the picture. Isla is looking pretty cute but what's Lilo doing? According to her she's saying "Jinga Bob", which according to her was what she was told to say - somehow I don't think so.
We're off next week to Florida again, it's not suppose to be raining but really hot. Since we haven't had much of summer here, it will be nice.

Canada Day and rain - what gives?

We headed out on Wednesday for our 3rd annual multi-family camping trip. We decided this year to try a different camp ground, thinking that maybe the rain wouldn't follow us - wrong. The group was smaller this year, especially since the Jimmo kids were sick and they had to bail at the last minute. It ended up being a good size group and the kids got along really well.
We got there on Wednesday and we actually had nice weather and went to the beach for a late afternoon swim. The kids loved it - well Andrew was upset since the little ones were in the hole he was digging. Then it started to rain. Thursday we spent most of the day under the cover, at least it wasn't too cold. The kids still had fun running around in their raincoats and boots and it wasn't until close to noon that we pulled out the DVD player. I know, not really roughing it but I don't care.

Friday was better, we headed over to the playground and it was actually getting warm. Just when we thought it was going to be a nice day, a big cloud comes by and dumps on us again. It still turned out to be an ok day with another trip to the park in the afternoon.

We packed up on Saturday and drove home to sunny Toronto and had a sunny weekend at home drying out and cleaning up all our camping gear.
We still had a fun trip with lots of yummy food including; bacon wrapped trout, pizza stuffed pork chops, grilled veggies, onion rings, roasted hotdogs and brats and s'mores.
