The Girls are growing up

Last Saturday little Lilo turned 3. She had a dress up themed birthday party with her friends. Her dress up box is now full thanks to all her friends and family. She got a hula, vet, nurse, construction worker, princess outfits plus some boxing gloves, clown wig and nose and butterfly wings. Lilo has been having fun over the past week trying all the different things on and playing pretend.

.

The party was fun and hectic as any 3 year old party is. She had 3 friends there so it wasn't that big - and parents. So some dress up was done but it was a lot of running around and my craft project didn't get done. I guess they are still too young, I'll save it for a rainy day. It was to decorate their own crowns with jewels and pompomsWe had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner which all the kids except Lilo ate up. She's not the greatest eater at the best of times, let alone when there's a party going on. Anyways that saved room for cake and I must say I'm pretty proud of the cake.

So after a long afternoon we put all the kids to bed and the parents had their spaghetti, watched some SNL and played some Wii. It ended up being a fun night.
And Lilo would like to thank everyone for the great gifts and cards. We have been playing who's this card from everyday at lunch this week.
Last Saturday was also Isla's 1/2 year birthday - yep, she's already 6 months old.
I took the girls for their doctors appointments. Isla is weighing in at a whopping 18lbs 3oz and is 26" long - that puts her in the 90% percentile for weight and 50% for length. So she's a little stocky, good thing she's cute and has that killer smile. Since she obviously has a different body type than Lilo I will stop comparing their weights as I don't want to give Isla a complex :)
I was actually suprized at her length since she is outgrowing many clothes in the length - not the width but babies move so much it's hard to get accurate read on length.
She also got 2 shots in her legs, she took the first one problem but the 2nd one must of hurt, poor girl.
Isla is growing up - she's no longer the little baby that just lies there. She's sitting up and playing, which makes her look so grown up. She's also rollling a lot so get half way across the room - time to make sure Lilo picks up all her toys. She's reaching and grabbing at everything - she knocked my beer over at Lilo's party when I wasn't looking. This week she tried sweet potato and didn't mind it. She still hasn't really got the concept of openning her mouth but if I sneak it in she seems to sort of like it :) She's getting better at it, we'll try avacados next.

Lilo also had her 3 year doctors appointment. She's 32lbs and 38" tall - which puts her in the 70% percentile for weight and 75% for height. I was also suprized that her weight puts her in the 70% since she's so thin and her pants can be so loose especially with no diaper on. Yep, we are going full force in the potty training. This week I decided that no more diapers, except when sleeping and if we go out - I'm not ready for dealing with accidents outside the house. We did a short trip to the store and park on Monday and well I threw out those panties, I didn't want to bring those home. So it has been going ok, we still have some accidents but otherwise she's going in the potty. The one thing is she hasn't been going herself but just going when I bring her, which is every hour. So we still have to work on that - but it will come. She seems used to no wearing diapers so that's a start.
I forgot to mention what we got Lilo for her birthday - a camera. Well actually we got a new camera for the family but with Lilo in mind. It's a new Olympus one that can be dropped from 10 feet and is waterproof so she can't break it. She loves taking pictures and actually can take some pretty good ones. It's fun to see what she thinks is picture worthy - the cats, her stuffed animals, Isla, Mommy and Daddy. I've actually gotten her to take pictures of Isla and I when Rob's not home.
We were looking at the kids camera but the quality of the pictures it takes and screen quality are so poor it wasn't worth it. We might have a budding photographer on our hands so we want to encourage it.
Pictures to come shortly - I just need to take them of fthe new camera :) and sorry for any typing errors, I've been writing this with 2 kids climbing on and off me.
